The World War II Foundation's goal is to educate, preserve, honor & inspire now and future generations of the bravery and sacrifices of WWII veterans and survivors. Their website was outdated and cluttered with the amount of content the WWII Foundation produced. Our goal was to transform the website into an education portal that made it easy for both students and teachers to learn about WWII. The students they targeted ranged from 7 -18 years. Additionally, they were challenged to connect with teachers who had different levels of understanding of WWII and belief in the importance of the WWII history in their curriculum.
SOLUTION & RESULTS
To resolve the WWII Foundation’s challenge, we connected directly through user testing with both students and teachers across the nation. We wanted to ensure that content is properly organized and accessible, but also that the site's design reflects the right balance of visual interest, intrigue, and information. We designed a website that provides opportunities for images and video thumbnails to tell part of the history to entice students and teachers to unfold the rest. As with any project, it's important to see the product through the perspective of the ultimate user. The website has resulted in 50% more click-throughs and longer engagement times on key pages.
