The objective was to provide a practical, flexible, self-run exercise template to the Ugandan Defense Force that enables them to rehearse and improve staff processes and procedures while completing the 14-day Rapid Deployment Capability process. This included the production of uniquely designed maps, cards and game materials, video content, and packaging.
SOLUTION & RESULTS
To understand and provide accurate map designs, we referred to multiple government map resources to pull various pieces of targeted information. We designed and cloth-printed three accurate maps of Uganda, East Africa, and Carana based off these gathered research items––including accurate transportation routes, airports, seaports, major cities, and military bases. Each map was styled similarly to create a visually consistent game. To support the exercise, we also produced a guiding video series with the goal of enhancing exercise play as a visual and audible guide. Hundreds of playing cards were printed and hand-cut in-house, sealed and quality-ensured with laminate. Lastly, we brought everything together in custom game-box packaging and a heavy-duty and secure shipping case.
BLN24 created an all-custom packaged exercise game for AFRICOM APRRP remote rapid response exercise facilitation. All play materials were consistent in visual and material quality, and we managed to problem-solve for packaging and appearance challenges. The product was shipped internationally and is now in use.
